Welcome to Eastnor Castle Backyard 8hr, 12hr and Relay 2024!
We are really looking forward to seeing you for our first ever Backyard and Relay race at Eastnor Castle on Saturday!
The conditions as it stand look potentially a bit damp. We have plenty of shelter adjacent to the start/finish line for you to store changes of kit during the run
Here are some important reminders for the day
1) Bibs - All race numbers are collected on race day in our event village. For the relay teams, each runner will have their own copy of their race number. Please make sure your number is on your front, on your outer layer, so it is clearly visible for our timers to record your laps, thank you.
Solo runners (8hr and 12hr) runners race numbers have one design.
Relay runners have a different design on their race numbers.
2) Start lists - these are now published on our website.
3) Parking - There are two car parks, one on each side of the road, both very close to event registration. The car parking costs £2 per car (cash only please), we would be grateful if you could have this money ready at the gate. Be careful when crossing the road as well as moving around the event car park and keep an eye on your little people
4) Race start - All races start at 10:00 with a briefing for all runners at 09:50 adjacent to the start line so please come to the briefing ready to race.
5) Feast Station - There is one feast station on the course which is at the lap point. There will be sweet and savoury snacks including GF and vegan options; haribo, tribe bars (GF, vegan), oranges, bananas, crisps, mini cheddars, chocolate bars, twiglets (vegan), falafel (vegan). We will have water, hi5 electrolyte and we will break out the coke later in the day.
6) Can people still register on the day? - Yes! We still have spaces for on the day sign ups, with 10:00 start times;

Pre registered runners can also swap distances going up or down a distance by reporting to Event Information on the day. We are not able to make any more changes at this time.
7) Camping - Camping is available in the beautiful private deer park, a few 100m from the start line, from 16:00 on Friday until 16:00 on Sunday. Camping is £10 / night / person and includes fresh drinking water, portaloos and showers. If you have already registered, please have your registration to hand when you arrive (phone signal is weak, so worth loading on your phone before hand). If you would like to book camping, you can still do so here.
8) Refreshments - We will have a caterer serving hot drinks and hot food between 13:00 and 19:00. Eastnor is very remote with no shops nearby so please come prepared with any additional supplies you might need.
9) Shelter, Changing Rooms, Shower and Toilets - We have a large covered space adjacent to the start line, approx 100m square, where you can set yourself up for the race day with your own supplies. We will have small male and female changing rooms. We have portaloos and men's urinals in the race village. The showers are just for the people who are camping and are not part of the wider event offering.
10) PROVISIONAL Results - These are posted to our website on Saturday night or Sunday morning. Just a reminder that there are no overall winners for the Solo Backyard races, though we will be recording your lap times. There will be winners for the relays based on team size and how many complete laps are logged within 12hrs, part laps will not be counted.
11) Music - Only bone conducting headphones are permitted, we need you be able to hear marshals instructions out on the course.
12) Race Photos - Professional race photos are available to purchase from Blowfish Photography, you can search quickly using your race number or by uploading a selfie. You can register now to hear when your photos are up!
Photos are added to their site within 48hrs of the event and there is a 10% discount automatically applied on all purchases made with the first 48hrs of the photos going on sale.
13) T-Shirts - We have our Relish t-shirts featuring the Eastnor Castle. They are made from recycled plastic bottles available to buy on the day; light weight and breathable, in male and female cuts, red and black colours. T-shirts are £30 (male and female specific styles) and racer back vests (female only) are £25.
Covid / Injury / Illness
If you can not attend due to injury, illness or a positive covid test you can complete your race as a virtual, on any course and at a time of your choosing within 4 weeks of the race and we will post out your medal and goodies. Just reply to this email with your evidence when you have completed your run.
Unfortunately we are now too close to the event to make any substitutions as the booking platform is closed and we have a very busy few days ahead out of the office preparing for the race. The final date for making a change to a booking is 14 days out from an event.
