Hi Relish Runners

Welcome to Eastnor Castle Mud Bath!

The Eastnor Castle Mud Bath is one of our favourite events of the year and we are really looking forward to seeing you all on Sunday!

The prevailing conditions can only be described as wet, not only because it is a Mud Bath, but also because it looks like there is fair chance more water be falling from the sky, hopefully not mud though, that would be very weird....

Here are some important reminders for race day

1) Bibs - All race numbers are collected on race day in our event village. You will collect your race number from your Event Wave desk (not race wave) - see the schedule

2) Start lists - These are now published on our website. Please check your wave numbers and remember you collect your bibs by Event Wave not race wave. Note some colours are used twice, so you also need to note the number range on the schedule document.

Group Bookings - If you registered as part of an official group of 10+ runners (there is a note on the start lists by your name in the Group Bookings column if you are unsure) we have put all your groups numbers and a mini start list together for one of your team to collect from Event Info. You can then distribute the numbers amongst your runners to save everyone queuing individually

3) Parking - There are two car parks, one on each side of the road, both very close to event registration. The car parking costs £2 per car (cash only please), we would be grateful if you could have this money ready at the gate. Be careful when crossing the road as well as moving around the event car park and keep an eye on your little people.

4) Race start - Please read the schedule to see what time your race starts. There is a short, but steep hill to get from registration to the start line. We recommend allowing 15-20mins for this so you can take it a leisurely pace.

On the plus side, look at this amazing downhill section as the end of the race 🤣

There are a number of waves for each distance. Make sure you note your Event Wave as this is how runners will be called to the start. Note some Event Waves have the same colour numbers, but different number ranges. Any wave jumpers will be disqualified.

5) Waves - You cannot change race waves within your distance. All race waves are now fixed and you cannot change on the day. You can change event distance by vising Event Information to fill out a form to get a new race number.

6) Accompanying Runners - If you are an adult accompany a younger runner on a free of charge basis (3km or 6km racers) then you will not appear on the start lists nor will you collect a race number. Please do not collect a medal after the event, unless you have paid for your place.

7) Water - bring your own supply!
- Pre race - We have water for all runners after the races, but we don't have water for runners before the race. It may be warm, there is limited shelter at the event village, so you need to bring your own water for before the event.
- During the race - there is one drinks station on 3km and 6km. There are two drinks stations on the 10km.
- The swamp is not a good drinks station 🤣
- Post race - there is water for all runners

There will also be a huge buffet of tasty treats at the finish line and on the on course feed stations for the longer races, including GF and vegan snacks.

8) Can people still register on the day? - Yes! We have guaranteed spaces for on the day sign ups, with start times at;

Event Wave 1; 3km Wave 1 at 10:00 (£25)
Event Wave 11; 6km Wave 5 at 12:20 (£35)
Event Wave 9; 10km Wave 4 at 12:00 (£40)

We suggest you arrive 75mins before you start time to give you time to register.

Runners can also swap distances going up or down a distance by reporting to Event Information on the day. We are not able to make any more changes at this time.

Runners are not able to change their wave within their distance.

9) Camping - Camping is available in the beautiful private deer park, a few 100m from the start line, from 16:00 on Friday until 16:00 on Sunday. Camping is £10 / person / night and includes fresh drinking water, portaloos and showers. If you have already registered, please have your registration to hand when you arrive (phone signal is weak, so worth loading on your phone before hand). If you would like to book camping, you can still do so here

10) Refreshments - We will have a range of caterers offering hot food and drinks

11) Baggage, Toilets and Changing Rooms - We have a bag drop in the Event Village which is ~250m from the car park. If you can leave your bags in your car or with spectators if possible that would be ideal. Please use small bags for the bag drop where you can as we don't have capacity for lots of large bags, thank you. We have portaloos and men's urinals in the race village. It is very important that you use these and not sprinkle the hedgerows! Any racers doing so will be politely asked to leave the event village. We will have small male and female changing rooms. The showers are just for the people who are camping and are not part of the wider event offering.

We recommend you come to the race changed and ready to race. A change of clothes and shoes for the drive home is strongly recommended!

12) PROVISIONAL Results - these are posted to our website at noon on Monday as there is no internet reception on site and we will be leaving site very late Sunday evening.

13) Music - Only bone conducting headphones are permitted so you can hear other runners and marshals instructions

14) Race Photos - Professional race photos are available to purchase from Blowfish Photography, you can search quickly using your race number or by uploading a selfie. You can register now to hear when your photos are up!

Photos are added to their site within 48hrs of the event and there is a 10% discount automatically applied on all purchases made with the first 48hrs of the photos going on sale.

15) T-Shirts - We have our Relish t-shirts featuring the Eastnor Castle. They are made from recycled plastic bottles available to buy on the day; light weight and breathable, in male and female cuts, red and black colours. T-shirts are £30 (male and female specific styles) and racer back vests (female only) are £25.

Covid / Injury / Illness

If you can not attend due to injury, illness or a positive covid test you can complete your race as a virtual, on any course and at a time of your choosing within 4 weeks of the race and we will post out your medal and goodies. Just reply to this email with your evidence when you have completed your run.

Unfortunately we are now too close to the event to make any substitutions as the booking platform is closed and we have a very busy few days ahead out of the office preparing for the race. The final date for making a change to a booking is 14 days out from an event.

If you would like to keep in touch and hear about upcoming events, new races which may include the very occasional offer from our event partners please click the link below and fill out the quick form. Thank you!
