We are really looking forward to seeing everyone for our first ever event at Westonbirt Arboretum - thank you all so much for making it a SELL OUT event!!
All our Event Info, and now the start lists have been published to our website here.
Below our some top tips and key reminders for the day, drawing on Information from the website links above.
1) Schedule - Individual start times are now online, check them out here FINAL SCHEDULE NOW. Number collection opens from 07:10 on race day before the first race gets underway at 08:00. Aim to arrive at Westonbirt 75mins before your race start time to allow plenty of time to park up and collect your number.
2) Number Collection - is based on your EVENT Wave, this is the order that the various race waves such as half marathon wave 1, 10km wave 1, 5km wave 1 etc are being slotted into the overall event program. Check your race number and you will collect it from desk which corresponds to your EVENT Wave.
For example, the 5km is the 6th wave in the overall Event, so 5km numbers are collected from Desk 6 - check the Schedule to find your Event Wave, and therefore your number collection point.
3) Parking - Parking is £5/car, all parking funds go direct to the Arboretum and it gives FREE access to the arboretum for all spectators in the car, provided they arrive before 9am. After this time, normal visitor rates will apply, £12 for an adult ticket, so it is a pretty good deal. You are welcome to stay and enjoy the arboretum for as long as you wish after the event.
Follow the Relish Running signs when you are on site to use the Event Car Park, a separate area to the main visitor entrance. The event address is Westonbirt Arboretum, Westonbirt, Tetbury, GL8 8QS. Or use What3Words /// monkey.booth.motored for a precise location.
4) Race start - You need to start in the wave that you registered for as all the start times are pre loaded into the timing computers. If you set off early, not only will be your time be inaccurate, this will effect all other runners too!
We can not make any changes to waves within a distance, but you can still change your race distance by going to the Event Info desk on the morning of the race.
5) Suncream, caps, glasses - It is going to be WARM! Take care of yourself by preparing well. The course is tough, there is no shelter on the course or in the event area.
6) Keeping hydrated! - Please bring your own water for before, during and after your run.
For environmental reasons, and to ensure you are able to look after yourself in THIS warm weather, wer highly recommend that everyone carries their own water. Long distance racers should carry their own bottles and refill at out drinks stations. We do have cups, so there is no need to suffer, it is important you stay hydrated, but please be aware of the sustainable direction the events are moving.
As always, we will have superbly stocked feast stations with food and drink to power you around the course, but it is important you can keep yourself topped up between these feast stations stop which come ever 5km or so.
7) Can people still register on the day? We are SOLD OUT for the 5km, 10km or Half Marathon. We do have spaces for runners who are already registered to go down or up in distance, but we can not take any new bookings for this race.
We do have places for the 1 Mile Fun Run. These places are available on a first come, first served basis. As the booking platform has closed for this race, we can not take any more registrations at this time.
9) Refreshments - Westonbirt has a wide range of offerings at the on site cafes and restaurants. Follow the signs to the event toilets from the number collection area and you will walk past the cafes.
We will of course be offering our usual selection of tasty treats at the finish line and around the course on the Half and Marathon events.
9) Bag drop - We have a bag drop in the event village but the space is limited. If you can leave your bag in your car or with supporters, that would be pefereable. The bag drop is self drop and collect, show your baggage tag which matches your race number to one of our marshals to remove your bag. Please allow plenty of time to do this before your race starts
10) Toilets - There is a huge number of event toilets, please use these and definitely not the hedgerows, trees or bushes. Anyone caught doing so will be be DQ'd.
11) Results - Results will be posted online by 18:00 and you will be able to view them here once they are live.
12) Music - Only bone conducting headphones are permitted, we need you to be able to hear marshal calls and traffic at the road crossings as well as other visitors to the arboretum.
13) Photos - Professional race photos are available to purchase from Blowfish Photography, you can search quickly using your race number or by uploading a selfie. You can register now to hear when your photos are up!
Photos are added to their site on the evening of the event and there is a 10% discount automatically applied on all purchases made with the first 48hrs of the photos going on sale.
14) T-Shirts - We have our Relish t-shirts with the Two Tunnels train on, made from recycled plastic bottles available to buy on the day; light weight and breathable, in male and female cuts, red and black colours. £30 a t-shirt or £25 for a women's racer back vest.
15) Shared Path - Please follow the basics that we are all accustom to; respect everyone's personal space, take advantage of the additional hygiene measures...and most importantly, remember to smile and enjoy your day! Please remember that we have no priority on the path and runners need to share the path and give way to other users, thank you.
