Hi Relish Runners

Welcome to Westonbirt Arboretum Races!

We're so excited that you're going to be joining us at Westonbirt Arboretum on Sunday!

All our Event Info, and now the start lists have been published to our website here

Below our some top tips and key reminders for the day, drawing on Information from the website links above.

Conditions are looking perfect, pretty cool for the time of the year but it will likely feel warm to us given recent weather, particularly for those running the half marathon so make sure you are well hydrated and have a plan to drink between our on course drinks stations which are every 5km

Here are some important reminders for race day

1) Schedule - Individual start times are now online, check them out here FINAL SCHEDULE NOW. Number collection opens from 07:10 on race day before the first race gets underway at 08:00. Aim to arrive at Westonbirt 75mins before your race start time to allow plenty of time to park up and collect your number.

2) Number Collection - is based on your EVENT Wave, this is the order that the various race waves such as half marathon wave 1, 10km wave 1, 5km wave 1 etc are being slotted into the overall event program. Check your race number and you will collect it from desk which corresponds to your EVENT Wave. Some of the larger waves will also be split alphabetically so we can serve twice as many people, plus join the queue by your surname; either the A - J queue or K - Z queue so we can help you as quickly as possibe.

For example, the 5km is the 6th wave in the overall Event, so 5km numbers are collected from Desk 6 - check the Schedule to find your Event Wave, and therefore your number collection point.

3) Parking - Parking is £5/car, all parking funds go direct to the Arboretum and it gives FREE access to the arboretum for all spectators in the car, provided they arrive before 9am. After this time, normal visitor rates will apply, £12 for an adult ticket, so it is a pretty good deal. You are welcome to stay and enjoy the arboretum for as long as you wish after the event.

- If you pre purchased parking alongside your booking, please have this visible on your race registration confirmation email; printed or on your phone, for checking at the car park entrance or once you have parked up.

- If you are yet to purchase parking, please can you do so prior to race day using this link.

If you are not sure if you have purchased parking, please check the start lists. We have tried to collate the stand alone purchases with the start lists, but it wasn't possible to match everyone (some people bought passes for others) so if the start lists aren't completely up to date in regard to the parking pass, it doesn't matter (we won't be making additional updates to it), you just need to have a pass for checking by the parking attendants

Follow the Relish Running signs when you are on site to use the Event Car Park, a separate area to the main visitor entrance. The event address is Westonbirt Arboretum, Westonbirt, Tetbury, GL8 8QS. Or use What3Words /// monkey.booth.motored for a precise location.

4) Race start - You need to start in the wave that you registered for to ensure that runners are well spaced around the course.

We can not make any changes to waves within a distance, but you can still change your race distance by going to the Event Info desk on the morning of the race.

5) Suncream, caps, glasses - It is going to be WARM! Take care of yourself by preparing well, take a look at the free Race Ready App for expert guidance for how to prepare over the next few days.

6) Keeping hydrated! - Please bring your own water for before, during and after your run.

For environmental reasons, and to ensure you are able to look after yourself in this warm weather, we highly recommend that everyone carries their own water. Long distance racers should carry their own bottles and refill at out drinks stations. We do have cups, so there is no need to suffer, it is important you stay hydrated, but please be aware of the sustainable direction the events are moving.

There is one drinks station on the 5km

There is one drinks station on the 10km

There are three drinks stations on the Half Marathon

There will also be a huge buffet of tasty treats at the finish line and on the on course feed stations for the longer races, including GF and vegan snacks.

7) Can people still register on the day? Yes!

Event Wave 4 - Half Marathon Wave 4; start time 08:15

Event Wave 5 - 1 Mile; start time 08:20

Event Wave 6 - 5km; start time 08:30

Event Wave 8 - 10km Wace 2; start time 08:50

You can change distance by going to the Event Info desk on the morning of the race. We aren't able to make any changes ahead of the race at this point in time, in advance of race day itself.

8) Refreshments - Westonbirt has a wide range of offerings at the on site cafes and restaurants. Follow the signs to the event toilets from the number collection area and you will walk past the cafes.

We will of course be offering our usual selection of tasty treats at the finish line and around the course on the Half and Marathon events.

9) Bag drop - We have a bag drop in the event village but the space is very limited. If you can leave your bag in your car or with supporters, that would be preferable. The bag drop is self drop and collect, show your baggage tag which matches your race number to one of our marshals to remove your bag. Please allow plenty of time to do this before your race starts.

10) Toilets - There is a huge number of event toilets, please use these and definitely not the hedgerows, trees or bushes. Anyone caught doing so will be be DQ'd.

11) Results - Results will be posted online by 18:00 and you will be able to view them here

12) Music - Only bone conducting headphones are permitted, we need you to be able to hear marshal calls and traffic at the road crossings as well as other visitors to the arboretum.

13) Photos - Professional race photos are available to purchase from Blowfish Photography, you can search quickly using your race number or by uploading a selfie. You can register now to hear when your photos are up!

Photos are added to their site on the evening of the event and there is a 10% discount automatically applied on all purchases made with the first 48hrs of the photos going on sale.

14) T-Shirts - We have our Relish t-shirts with the Two Tunnels train on, made from recycled plastic bottles available to buy on the day; light weight and breathable, in male and female cuts, red and black colours. £30 a t-shirt or £25 for a women's racer back vest.

15) Shared Path - Please follow the basics that we are all accustom to; respect everyone's personal space, take advantage of the additional hygiene measures...and most importantly, remember to smile and enjoy your day! Please remember that we have no priority on the path and runners need to share the path and give way to other users, thank you.

Covid / Injury / Illness

If you can not attend due to injury, illness or a positive covid test you can complete your race as a virtual, on any course and at a time of your choosing within 4 weeks of the race and we will post out your medal and goodies. Just reply to this email with your evidence when you have completed your run.

Unfortunately we are now too close to the event to make any substitutions as the booking platform is closed and we have a very busy few days ahead out of the office preparing for the race. The final date for making a change to a booking is 14 days out from an event.

If you would like to keep in touch and hear about upcoming events, new races which may include the very occasional offer from our event partners please click the link below and fill out the quick form. Thank you!
